How to Edit Macro in Excel

Enable the Developer Tab

To begin editing macros in Excel, first ensure the Developer tab is visible. If not, enable it by right-clicking the ribbon, selecting 'Customize the Ribbon', and checking the 'Developer' box.

Access the Visual Basic Editor

With the Developer tab enabled, access the Visual Basic Editor by clicking 'Visual Basic' in the 'Code' group. This opens the environment where macros, written in Visual Basic, can be edited.

Insert a Module (if necessary)

If a new module is required, insert it by clicking 'Insert' and then 'Module' within the Visual Basic Editor. Existing macros can be found in the 'Modules' folder.

Edit Macros in Visual Basic

Select the macro to edit from the list of modules. Modify the macro's instructions as needed within the Visual Basic Editor. Use Visual Basic programming language for all macro edits.

Enable Macros Temporarily

To run or test the edited macro, temporarily enable all macros. Do this via 'Macro Settings' in the 'Trust Center'.

Disable Macros After Editing

After editing and running your macro, for security purposes, disable all macros again. Navigate to 'Trust Center Settings' and select the appropriate macro settings.
