Fill Range Without Formatting in Excel

Using the Fill Handle with Right Mouse Button

Utilize the fill handle with the right mouse button to access the Fill Without Formatting option. Drag the fill handle, found in the lower right corner of your selection, to fill your desired range without altering the original formatting.

Enabling Paste Options for Left Mouse Button

Enable "Show Paste Options button when content is pasted" to use the Fill Without Formatting feature with the left mouse button. This setting allows the same functionality as the right-click method but with the convenience of the left mouse button.

Paste Options Menu

The Fill Without Formatting command is also accessible through the Paste Options menu. This option ensures that only the content is duplicated, preserving the destination cells' original formatting.

Shortcut with Ctrl+D

For a quick fill operation, use the Ctrl+D shortcut after selecting the range with the fill handle. This will replicate the content without copying the source formatting.

Auto Fill Feature

The Auto Fill feature in Excel simplifies the process of filling cells with data based on a pattern. However, Auto Fill by itself does not address manual data entry or filling across multiple worksheets. Use it in combination with the Fill Without Formatting option for optimal results.
